Lake/Forest Lake Bluff Chamber: Tell us a little bit about DBJ Florals and Events and the services you offer?
Kimberly Carris: DBJ Florals & Events is a full-service floral design and event planning company based in Lake Bluff. We create everything from daily floral arrangements and intimate dinner party florals to weddings, funerals, corporate galas, fundraisers, and large-scale special events. Our team also brings experience in décor, lighting, draping, and outdoor container design, and we pride ourselves on offering personalized attention to every detail, so that each event feels distinctive and memorable.
LF/LB: What inspired you to take over this wonderful local business?
KC: Designs by Jody has been a beloved part of this community for decades, and I was drawn to the opportunity to carry forward that legacy while bringing my own creativity and energy to it. As a longtime Lake Forest resident, I’ve always appreciated the artistry behind floral design and the way beautiful events bring people together. Taking over the business felt like a meaningful way to combine those passions with my love for this community.
LF/LB: What is your vision or hope for the future of your business?
KC: My vision is to honor the reputation and personal touch that Designs by Jody has built over the years while continuing to grow and evolve with fresh ideas and inspiration. I want DBJ to keep raising the bar in floral artistry and event design, while remaining known for exceptional service, close client relationships, and thoughtful attention to detail. I also hope we continue to be the trusted partner for everything from intimate gatherings to major celebrations across the North Shore.
LF/LB: How does DBJ plan to support our community under your leadership?
KC: Community support is at the heart of what I care about, and I’m proud that DBJ can play a role in so many meaningful local moments. I’ve been personally involved in many local philanthropies and school organizations over the past 21 years in which I’ve lived in Lake Forest . (I have one daughter who graduated from LFHS and two kids still in our schools). We look forward to continuing our work with schools, nonprofits, fundraisers, and community institutions, while helping local families and organizations celebrate life’s milestones beautifully. My goal is for DBJ to be known not only for exceptional floral and event design, but also for being a business that genuinely contributes to the vibrancy of our community.
LF/LB: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or the business?
KC: What makes DBJ so special is our team. We’re a fun, passionate, collaborative group with deep experience in floral design, events, and creating unforgettable spaces. We truly love what we do, and we approach every project with creativity and care. Whether someone is ordering flowers for an everyday occasion or planning a major event, we want them to feel that same level of enthusiasm, warmth, and personal attention from start to finish.
