Member Spotlight: Boone Ott, Owner, Gotcha Covered Lake Forest
Lake/Forest Lake Bluff Chamber: Tell us a little bit about Gotcha Covered Lake Forest and the services you offer?
Boone Ott: We are a locally owned business specializing in custom shades, blinds, draperies, shutters, and home automation. We are here to learn about your space, offer design suggestions, provide white glove installation, and standing behind our work long after installation. Most our clients are in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Deerfield but we go all the way out to Grayslake, Lake Zurich and beyond!
LF/LB: What inspired you to bring your business to the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff community?
BO: I first lived in Lake Forest about 12 years ago and got to know a lot of kids in a youth group I helped with at church and I loved getting to explore the area, sit at the beach, cheer on the kids at Lake Forest High School, and eat A LOT of burritos at The Otherdoor in Lake Bluff. It made sense to start my first business in a place that brought me so much joy!
LF/LB: What is your vision or hope for the future of your business?
BO: I want to build a trusted, well known window treatment company that homeowners can rely on when they want things done right and without stress. I want our name to stand for professionalism, quality, friendly service, integrity, and honesty. My faith influences how I run my business. It shapes how we treat people, how we show up, and how seriously we take the trust you’ve placed in us when inviting us into your home.
LF/LB: How does Gotcha Covered plan to support to the community?
BO: I want this business to be known not just in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff but also in less affluent neighborhoods in northern Illinois. There are communities just around the corner that don’t have the same access or resources, and I’d love to help in any way possible. I have dreams of helping with fundraisers and community partnerships or installing shades and blinds in new homes at a price everyone can participate in. Whether that means donated installation, reduced-cost programs, or working with local organizations, I want our work to make homes more comfortable, dignified, and livable for people at every stage.
LF/LB: Is there anything else you would like to share about your business?
BO: We are unique because we bring the store to your home with samples we can hold in your windows and we offer multiple brands to choose from. Some people want it narrowed down for them but some people want to see all the options. We’re here to listen and give you what you need. We also post design tips to Facebook and Instagram and also, I’m a little goofy so you’ll get some humor if you follow us. Life is too short to be serious every day!
