ELW: Lake Forest Flowers has been proudly serving the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff communities since 1917, bringing over a century of artistry, passion, and personal service to every floral creation. Recognized as a Centennial Business Award recipient by the Lake Forest Lake Bluff Historical Society, we are honored to be part of your life's most memorable moments.

As an inducted member of the American Academy of Floriculture, I proudly share my passion of flowers through floral workshops and bringing our clients’ visions to life. Sourcing flowers from all over the world, you can count on the freshest flowers at Lake Forest Flowers. From intimate occasions to grand weddings, we are here for your floral needs.

My team and I take pride in providing personalized, local service and delivering each arrangement directly to your recipient's door. As your trusted local florist, we make it easy to express your feelings beautifully and authentically.

LF/LB: What inspired you to pursue a career in floral design?

ELW:  Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the floral business, I discovered the joy and love of gifting flowers at an early age. Opening a fresh box of blooms each day felt like the magic of Christmas morning—each season bringing a delightful array of new colors, textures, and materials. This ever-changing beauty continues to spark my passion for floral design, where each client's vision is an exciting, fresh canvas of creativity.

My fascination with flowers and their ability to evoke emotions led me to pursue a degree in horticulture from Purdue University, where I have proudly served on the Agricultural Alumni Board of Directors for over 12 years. Complementing my floral expertise, I also earned an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, equipping me with the business insight to grow and innovate while honoring my family’s legacy.

Flowers have always been my way of connecting beauty with heartfelt emotion. Every arrangement I create is crafted with a deep understanding of the artistry and sentiment behind it. It’s a joy to share this love with our community and beyond.

LF/LB: What is your vision or hope for the future of your business?

ELW:  At the heart of my business is a commitment to continue serving our community for generations to come. I am passionate about sharing the joy and beauty of flowers, inspiring people of all ages to explore the artistry of floral design through engaging, hands-on workshops.

Looking toward the future, I am dedicated to embracing more sustainable practices, integrating eco-friendly methods and materials whenever possible to ensure our work honors the natural world that inspires us. By blending tradition with innovation, I strive to create a legacy of creativity, connection, and care that will bloom for years to come.

LF/LB:  How does Lake Forest Flowers give back to the community?

ELW:  At Lake Forest Flowers, community connection is at the heart of everything we do. We proudly support local schools, nonprofit organizations, and fundraising initiatives by offering discounts to school sports teams and hosting creative floral workshops to help raise funds.

Adding a touch of joy to everyday life, our beloved "Name of the Day" sign surprises and delights passersby, demonstrating how gifting flowers can brighten someone’s day and make them feel truly special.

For over 50 years, my father, John Looby III, has exemplified our family’s dedication to service by donating the Christmas and Easter altar decorations at the Church of St. Mary, a tradition of generosity and artistry that continues to inspire.

We are honored to be a part of this vibrant community and remain committed to giving back through acts of kindness, beauty, and creativity.

LF/LB: Is there anything else you would like to share about your business?

ELW:  Both personally and professionally, I am proud to live, work, and play in the beautiful community of Lake Forest—a place my family and I are honored to call home. With a deep tradition of service, my father and I have volunteered in various community roles, including my time as a 4th Ward Alderman, reflecting our dedication to fostering connections and making a positive impact.

As we approach Valentine’s Day, I invite you to think of Lake Forest Flowers and support local businesses that contribute to the heart of our town. Flowers have a unique way of speaking feelings and emotions, turning simple moments into cherished memories. Let’s make it a habit to show love, admiration, and joy with the timeless beauty of flowers.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your most special occasions—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
