Market on the Square

Instructor Patricia O'Brien has been trained and certified by the Washington School of Protocol to present etiquette programs to children, teens, and young adults. She has established Manners, Please, providing social skills for every occasion. Ms. O'Brien has successfully taught classes in etiquette at many park districts, libraries, schools and organizations in Chicago and the North Shore area. Her motto is "Let's put civility back on the table."

Camerata Singers

"The Camerata Songbook" -- In Camerata tradition, the season will finish with a concert featuring the singer's choice of great songs. German lieder, French chansons, Italian lied and English and American songs will be sung by the talented soloists of Camerata and the ensemble. There is sure to be something for everyone!
The ticket price includes an elegant reception with wine, appetizers and desserts. All concerts are on Sunday afternoons, with performances at 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. unless stated otherwise. Guests for the 5:00 p.m. concert arrive at 4:00 p.m. to participate in the reception.

CareCenter 5K Challenge

Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter will host a family friendly race that both runners and walkers will enjoy. The CareCenter 5K Challenge run/walk will start at 8:30 a.m. at the CareCenter central facility, 2050 Claire Court in Glenview, with a post-race party to follow. A Fun Run for Kids will start at 9:30 a.m.
Race proceeds will benefit CareCenter services such as community grief support programming for adults and children, and hospice care for patients who have no insurance. The race course is USATF certified and the entry fee is $20 per adult, $10 for a child age 14 or under; $25 per adult on the day of the race. Participants can form a team to honor or recognize a loved one.

The Ragtops -- They are back and playing the great music of the 50's and early 60's just the way you remember it. You'll think you've gone back in time and for this season opener it will feel like it. Dust off your dancing shoes for the 50's dance contest. And bring out those poodle skirts, saddle shoes and slicked back hair for the best dressed 50's couple. Don't miss this season opener along with other surprises.
This is the 7th year for the concerts and it is growing each year. Come out and enjoy a mini Ravinia experience in beautiful Market Square in the heart of downtown east Lake Forest. Bring your whole family to enjoy music, dance and fun. Radio icon Tommy Edwards is the weekly emcee. If you remember Uncle Larry Lujack, Little Tommy and Animal Stories on the radio, you will love to listen to him each week. There will also be a free drawing each week for a beautiful basket or gift certificate from a local merchant or sponsor. So bring your blanket and get there early to find a great spot to enjoy the evening. Food vendors will be set up prior to the concert so that you can purchase your food before or during the concerts.

Wildlife Discovery Center at Elawa Farm
Members and family of the Max Schewitz Foundation along with staff from the Wildlife Discovery Center will be putting on all kinds of "kid friendly" activities during this day long adventure. They will have many resident animals out in the courtyards for people to touch as they use their special "wildlife passport" to move from one station to another. A special guest or two is expected to bring some more amazing animals such as various crocodilians. Draft horses, birds of prey and much more will be on hand too. There will be horse drawn wagon rides, games and activities including arts and crafts, food and refreshments and much more will be available. All proceeds will go to the Max Schewitz Foundation to continue Max's dreams for worldwide wildlife conservation. Additionally, money will be raised to help support sudden cardiac death research.
