Deerpath Farm event
Time: 2:00pm
Deerpath Farm hosts "Building Green From the Ground Up" event. The program will be held at 26403 North Farwell on the grounds of the new Deerpath Farm conservation development in Lake Forest. Attendees will hear guest speakers and have an opportunity to meet with experts in the field, as well as be entered to win $500 toward an energy efficient Energy Star certified washer or other appliance.

Speakers will include award-winning architect Rick Phillips, FAIA, developer of Deerpath Farm and host of the event. Additional speakers will be architects William Sturm, AIA, co-founder of Serena Sturm and William Bickford, AIA co-founder of DePree Bickford Associates. All will give brief presentations and answer questions from the audience. Additional guests who will also be available to take questions include Stephen Christy, Landscape and Ecological Consultant and former director of the Lake Forest Open Lands Association, David Richmond, President Environmental Community Consultants (ECCI) and a certified RESNET Energy Rater for the EPA's Energy Star program, and Sharon Roscher, Architectural Representative of Marvin Windows for the Chicago area.

Join Lake Forest Open Lands for a morning of hard work with the Friends of the Chicago River. Help do trail maintenance, clean up the river's banks, plant native species or remove invasive plants. Many different tasks have been developed to appeal to a wide variety of volunteers so that everyone can enjoy the Chicago River. Trading Spaces: Understanding the Social and Emotional Aspect for a Successful Transition to High School at Lake Forest High School in the David Miller Theatre. The challenges of moving on to high school can be overwhelming. Come hear from the experts and those who have "been there and done that". This will be a frank discussion of the social and emotional issues that students will face as they "trade spaces" from middle school to high school. The panel will include representatives from LFHS, CROYA and LEAD plus a parent and current LFHS students. Parents from all local middle schools, public and private, are welcome to attend.
