LAKE FOREST/LAKE BLUFF COMMUNITY CALENDAR 30 April 2008, Wednesday Prom Safety Event Time: 5:00pm - 7:15pm An outstanding group of youth leaders from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff have organized a Prom Safety event that will feature a Drunk Driving Simulation Course for youth and a youth run Press Conference to underscore the importance of good decision making by teens, especially during Prom Season. Called "One Night", the event will include both a press conference and interactive activities for youth that help them see first hand the implications of risky behavior such as drinking and driving. The "One Night" refers to the importance of evenings such as prom or graduation and how easily these celebrations can be marred by one wrong decision. The program will be held at the newly expanded facilities of CROYA, Lake Forest/Lake Bluff's youth organization, located at 400 Hastings Road in Lake Forest. Members of the press, elected officials and dignitaries, parents and youth, are invited. This event is unique because the messages are developed and conveyed by youth themselves. This effort is one of the many activities of the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Underage Drinking Prevention Coalition, FOCUS, an organization of students who have chosen to abstain from drugs and alcohol, CROYA, and the SADD club at Lake Forest High School. The simulation course will start at 5:30 p.m. in the CROYA parking lot, where students can experience first hand the effects of drinking and driving. Preventing Identity Theft Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm Mike Goy from the Lake Forest Crime Prevention Unit will inform us how to prevent identity theft and telemarketing scams at the Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center of Lake Forest Hospital.
