New Year's Day

LF Symphony
Time: 8:00pm
Lake Forest Symphony, under the musical direction of Alan Heatherington, will kick off the new year at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts in Grayslake on the College of Lake County campus. The concert will begin at 8:00 p.m., with a free pre-concert lecture by music researcher and composer Jim Kendros offered at 7 p.m.

Lake Forest Symphony's program will include the Bach Toccata and Fugue in d minor, Schuman's New England Triptych, and Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 in e minor. Pioneer Press is the concert sponsor.

Single tickets for the concert are $45, $35 and $25 with senior and student discounts available. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Symphony office at 847-295-2135 or online at www.lakeforestsymphony.org.

Join the "Border Patrol" to discover the hidden secrets of winter survival. Discover how plants and animals are adapted to withstanding colder temperatures. Become a master tracker as we search for animal signs and discover how to interpret snow stories.
